Brett Favre is old!!



Seriously, I know he's one of the best quarterbacks to play the game, but everyone knew he was going to retire. The big story isn't his retirement, it's the younger generation of Packers fans who have known their team with only Favre at the helm. Few fans get to say that for their entire fandom, they had one guy under center every game for 15 years. The 20 to 30 year olds who now have to watch their team change in a huge way.

Not many of us know what that's like. Unlike other sports, a football team centers around one guy, the same guy, every game. Most of us adjust to a new QB every 5 years or so. These fans had one man for 15.

So here's to you, Packers fans. Drink your sorrows away and grieve your loss. The team owners, the players, and the media will all move on quickly. It's you, the fans, who are facing the biggest loss.
